The only reason Chicago wanted Melo was to add him as a compliment to a possibly healthy Rose. We didnt want him just because of him, because Melo aint winning a title being the main star on a team. Thats already been proven. At 30 years old, if he hasnt already won being the man, he wont. Ask Kevin Garnett. If Rose was guaranteed to be hurt next season, for example, the Bulls wouldnt have even picked up the phone to call Melo, because every GM in the league knows Melo aint winning just being surrounded by good talent. Thats already been tried before to subpar results. Melo is a dynamic scoring piece to a championship team, not a leader, a winner, or a cornerstone, and no one Ive heard has said otherwise. Melo is a planet that needs to orbit around a star. We wanted him to orbit Rose in Chicago. Thats it.
