The owner of Vegan Treats, Danielle Kanya, has been a very good friend of mine since we were teenagers. It rules that biggest vegan bakery in the country (world?) is in my hometown! But recently there was some drama over shellac and sprinkles (seriously). A local website, who cant seem to get over the fact that a vegan woman has influence in their town, did everything in their power to exploit the issue- with the help of some vegans who will apparently work against veganism in the name of purity. Such a bummer. Fortunately a real journalist covered the issue and got some great quotes about what veganism is really about- doing what you can to reduce suffering.
