The problem I see with the corporate political mindset of our current leadership is that, those of that ilk tend to view our world and how they choose to act upon it in terms of 4 yr. cycles; always with an eye trained on the next election. Aboriginals on the other hand and those who identify with the ecological paradigm associated with environmentalism view that same world, but in terms of the generations that will follow. One camp pursues resource extraction without forethought, morality or ethics (though short term gains means long term pain), while the other camp strives to preserve the future of all those who are to follow (our Youth). Without the land and the abundance it offers we essentially silence The Ancestors, and without that connection to time / place where we live merely serves as a barren occupied space, which we’ll probably have to pay rent on to some Multinational Corp who will probably own my ass, my children’s ass and my grandchildren’s ass too;… now is this what we really want for our children and grand children?
