The rumor mill says the Israeli military is withdrawing from built up areas but will remain in new positions a few hundred yards inside the Gaza wall permanently. So the bombing of civilian areas may also stop soon - or at least slow to the background level random strikes that tend to happen every few weeks. But even a complete stop to the fighting tomorrow really doesnt mean much in the worlds largest - now heavily damaged - prison camp. 250,000 people are displaced and international agencies are warning of the very high chance of epidemic outbreaks as the water and sewage systems are not functioning - neither is the electricity. The last waves of infrastructural warfare waged against Gaza - 2002, 2006, 2008, 20012 and 2014 - have been carried out following the dark logic of killing the cities ability to support its population whilst leaving the majority of the people in it alive. It is important to continue pushing the Israeli government with boycott, public education and investigative journalism after the current round drops out of the headlines. In all likelihood, the siege and full closure will remain and the apartheid will be worse than ever. Love and Solidarity x
