Weight slightly down on yesterday but will be up tomorrow as today I have licked out the chocolate sponge bowl, eaten raw ginger biscuit mix (unexpectedly excellent), had to taste cooked ginger biscuits and shortbread, thought it only wise to finish off the chocolate that wasnt needed for the recipe and am eyeing up the apple pie as I write. Why is everything so much nicer when its warm? Whether my ginger biscuits will snap as opposed to bend remains to be seen. I now know of 142 ways to avoid a soggy bottom, lets just hope the one I chose works. My chocolate cake- to be exhibited un-iced has both cracked on the top and acquired bubbles ( neither gain plus points) and I dont think I can show it upside down. My apple pie hasnt been knocked up or crimped properly. Its not looking good. Hector and Rufus have been a huge help, transforming into mini vacuum cleaners and really entering into the spirit of the thing. Sadly one of the ginger biscuits fell onto Hectors head and he is unconscious but it is hoped he will come round by Sunday. The doilies have been unearthed (from last year you understand, we dont use them regularly. I know this will have disappointed some of you.....) and now I have to choose four ginger biscuits that are identical. The other 46 I shall take to the river to play ducks and drakes. Some of you will have spotted todays competition with the ginger biscuit photo. Which could possibly be mine? Washing ups done and now theres just donkeys to bath, harness and bridles to clean before I collapse. Oh and make tea. Now, do I dare take that apple pie out of the tin.......?????
