The tenth of MuHarram (Aashuraa ) is full of blessings and lessons, and thats why Allaah made fasting the day of Aashuuraa´ optionally recommended matter per the SaHiH Hadiith. • On the day of Aashuaraa (tenth of MuHarram) Allah forgave Prophet Adam, • Allah saved Prophet Noah enabling his arch to land peacefully and victoriously, • Allaah saved Prophet Ibrahim from the tyrant Numrood, • Allah united Prophet Ya^quub (Jacob) with his son Yussuf, • Allaah gave victory to Prophet Muusaa and split the sea for him and for the children of Israel and defeated Pharaoh (Fir^awn) • Allaah forgave Prophet Daawuud and granted Prophet Sulayman great dominion. • Prophet Yuunus was safely out of the whale • Allaah cured Prophet Ayuub • The Battle of Dhat ar-Riqa^ occurred • And on that day of Aashuura, on Friday the year 61 after the hijrah, a great tragedy befell the Muslims, the killing of the grandson of the messenger of Allaah peace be upon him, the killing of Imaam Abu Abdullah al-Hussain the son of Imaam ^Aliyy, who is the son of lady FaaTimah (RaDia l-Laahu ^anhaa) the daughter of Prophet MuHammad (Salla l-Laahu ^alayhi wa sallam).
