The thing about celebrities is that while we may not personally know them, if we pay enough attention to them their existence is ingrained into our everyday lives as if they are one of our closest relatives. Therefore, creating a weird connection of familiarity. In high school, my mornings started off with him on the tv. He was much like a hilariously corny older cousin whose attitude was just enough to motivate me for the day. It saddened me to learn of his illness and I was one of millions rooting for his healing.
