The town has scheduled a special meeting to on Wednesday, July 10 - TopicsExpress

The town has scheduled a special meeting to on Wednesday, July 10 at 09:00 (if quorum can be established) for the presentation of the Flood Plain Study and the sale of portion of lots (municipal garage and bicycle path). It is important that this meeting be attended and witnessed. At the last council meeting it was apparent that the majority of town councillors favoured selling Mr. Laliberte, the municipal garage and the bicycle path land that borders the properties that Mr. Laliberte has purchased. My understanding of the “Flood Plain Study” is that this is a professional third party study that has reviewed the flood plain in the village. There may be elements in this study that review the impact of developing on the former hardware store lands and the impact of allowing fill on this land. Placement of fill on this land should be concern to all citizens, particularly those in the downtown or on Capelton Road. Under this council’s watch we have seen the Emily Lebaron Park (across from Dreamland, next to small brown church) being allowed to be acquired by Mr. Laliberte and for the Pilsen Pub to extend it’s terrace onto municipal property. Now, we are seeing public assets being considered to be sold to a developer without public discussion or public tender. The current council is at the end of it’s mandate and should not be making these decisions, considering that Mr. Laliberte has not made public his plans for this land or filled a formal proposal with the town. If you have received this email, I believe that you have an interest in protecting the public interest, the integrity of North Hatley and have a respect for due process. I also believe that you have a large circle of like minded friends, please do not hesitate to forward this message to them and encourage them to attend this meeting. If quorum is not reached and the meeting is cancelled, I will email you to let you know. Kind Regards, John Gronan 819-842-2965 (office) 819-842-3318 (home)
