The video doesnt deal directly with Hawaii -- this has to do with the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine. The similarity is the occupation itself and military force employed against a civilian population. Dr. Sai has proposed an end to the U.S. occupation of Hawaii by way of U.S. military administration. We dont know exactly what that will look like. However, we can gain a reasonable inference of the possibilities by seeing the treatment of the defenseless by a hateful/spiteful military power. While not all U.S. soldiers are wicked, I believe most of us have seen the negative (and sometimes downright atrocious) treatment of civilian populations in occupied areas (most recently Afghanistan and Iraq). I do not mean for this post to discourage anyone from desiring an end to the occupation. The purpose of this post is to address how best we can protect ourselves during any transition. One murder, one rape... is far too much to risk. We need these issues addressed and its another reason why I call for a representative policy-conceptualizing body of the people. Its good that we can inform ourselves about our political status, but I believe we also need a thorough account of our socio-economic-environmental status as well. I believe we have a ways to go and we are a distance away from being ready. I think we need to close the gap.
