There are five operational fur farms in the Republic of Ireland, mainly rearing mink in cages and slaughtering them for fur. I refuse to use the term harvested which makes it sound as if they are a crop rather than living things. Foxes were being reared and slaughtered but this has become economically unviable. Surely humanity is becoming better than this, no animal should be reared to be a fashion accessory.
