There is a saying that “A child who can grow into a giant can be spotted from the first few steps as a toddler.” If you look into the records of the developmental projects and programmes you will agree with me with clear conscious. His government is not a government of building mansions and castles, driving big cars, expensive outfits or throwing money during festivity periods but it is about human, financial/economic and physical development. Ever since Gombe State was created she has been blessed with good leaders. The first Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alh Abubakar Habu Hashidu has done a great job during his four years term. Sen. Dr. Muhammad Danjuma Goje also performed well. Politics has often become issue that divide us. We can disagree without being disagreeable - Sen. Paul Simon. It is certain that we will never agree on everything, but we still have obligation to work together to get things done. I implore Gombawa to turn away from politics of personal destruction and return to politics of values. It is my dream, hope and prayer that all the past executive governors, traditional leaders, elder statesmen, businessmen, civil servants and citizens in all various calibres will come together under one umbrella and move the state to another level. Our state governor is accommodative. I believe it is going to work. We can always have dialogue on issues that matter most to the masses. For the past one year Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Talban Gombe, has been able to bridge the gap between citizens and the government. All the past governments have focused on infrastructural development shunning industrial development, to my own opinion is wrong. I believe this government can give our middle class relief and provide working families with a road to opportunity. I believe it can provide job to jobless, home to homeless, and reclaim her people in places across the state from poverty and despair. The youth empowerment is a good initiative but not lasting solution. The job they are engaged in is not professional; it is dependent on the government. After your tenures your successor may decide to dissolve or sack them if he does not have a good heart as yours. I wonder how their future will be if that happens- we are not praying for that anyway but we should always be prepared for the uncertainties as humans- some of them may go back to square one. Then there is nothing you can do about it. Gombe state is endowed with human and natural resources which if properly utilised will benefit not only Gombe State but the Nation as a whole. Manto Tomatoes Processing Plant is dead, very dead. Even some ginneries in the state are not functioning properly. What about the BCGA Oil Mill, even though it is private but the govt. can revive it and citizens would benefit from it by partnering with the owner(s). I do not need to give you statistics on agricultural potentials of the state; you have your ministry and run by experts. Talk to them. According to financial experts Gombe State has one of the best budgets in the country if not the best. I would like to suggest that you look into your budget next year with a view to making some little amendments for better result. If you can remove N10bn from your annual budget and use on industrialisation, believe you me, after your tenures you will be a legend. N40m will set up a small scale industry that can export its products to other countries in the world. You would build about 250 industries every year. In the next seven years you are going to have about 1,750 small scale industries which will at least employ nothing less than 20 people each. At the end of the tenure you will have about 35,000 employed citizens under this programme alone. There are other programmes that could be designed for youth with skills that will make them appreciate and use their skills in a more professional level. There are experts on this around, ask. You will find them. I would love to see you leave a legacy and become a legend. For the past one year you made us believe that the loyalist and the opposition have hope; the hope of elders for a better tomorrow for their sons and daughters; the hope of widows for the orphans; the hope of children for a quality education; the hope of the hungry belly for a filled stomach tomorrow. It will please me to see that you are a source of joy to others; to put a smile on the faces of the distress; it is a joy that lasts forever and follows you and your progeny to eternity. Be more accommodative, flexible, and tolerant but you need to have your stance and make your own decisions; you are the captain of the boat. But remember “it is better to have a government in fear of its people than to have people in fear of government”. If you do not show mercy to your people, when you come falling, they will help you fall hard and make sure you never rise again. You may not want to hear this; 90% of people in power are not in full control of their throne of authority. There are other hidden forces. It is the prayer of your people that will relieve you off this bondage. Seek it. I rest my case. I believe there are better days ahead. In the next seven years there will be lottery on the letters of indigene of Gombe State just like the lottery on US green cards. This is my dream. May God continue to guide and protect us all, Amen. Long Live Gombe State; Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria
