Anti-Israel protests forces Varsity authorities to declare Summer Vacations from July 18 to 31 Srinagar, July 16, CNS: The ongoing anti-Israel protests in Kashmir University on regular basis has reportedly forced Varsity authorities to announce for the closure of the University for Summer Vacation. University sources told CNS that Dean Academics Office has issued a notification declaring Summer Vacation for the students and staff of Kashmir University. The notification reads that the Kashmir University will remain closed from July 18 to July 31 and during this period there will be no classes. “Yes, University will remain closed from July 18 to 31 and the classes will resume on the first day of August,” Dean Academics Professor Muhammad Ashraf Wani told CNS. Meanwhile, anti-Israel protests continue to erupt in Kashmir University. On Wednesday, hundreds of male and female students hit the lanes and bye-lanes of Varsity and amid anti-Israel and pro-freedom slogans denounced the Israeli onslaught on Palestine. Sources told CNS that authorities have apprehensions that such protest may flare up in coming days and these may take ugly turn. “We have decided to close the University till the situation is normalized in Middle East,” said a Professor who wished not to be named. From past few days, hundreds of students of schools and colleges are coming out in protest against the bombing of civilian areas in the Gaza strip by the Israeli forces.Sensing trouble, the state government has already announced that all the schools upto higher secondary school would close from July 15 to July 31. Hardly few minutes later there was yet another announcement from the state government according to which all the colleges of Kashmir division were ordered to be closed from July 15 to July 30. (CNS)
