There seems to be a bit of a debate as to whether this story is an urban legend or not (varying from which source you go to), however, what is true is that the majority of land animals that are farmed for human consumption, are indeed injected with growth hormone to bulk them up and injected with antibiotics if they are sick. If you eat meat you are ingesting all the chemicals that the animal has had to involuntarily digest as well as any sickness not cured by the antibiotics. Oh and you are also consuming their fear, panic and confusion, the last emotions they felt before they are slaughtered!
