There seems to be quite an uproar regarding my status update - TopicsExpress

There seems to be quite an uproar regarding my status update earlier this evening. In my my small world I am not quite sure what the big deal is. Because in my small world, I see things from a different perspective. In my small world, I live by and as example that there many wonderful and positive success stories in the Aboriginal community. I am a proud aboriginal man and my children are proud Aboriginal children. My family is proudly Aboriginal and none of us deny, nor do we resent our Aboriginal heritage. In my small corner, I dont judge the words or actions of others whether they be in anger, frustration, humor or any other connotation. For it is not my place to judge as I do not know of their journey. I could however empathize, appreciate, or even reject should i choose to do so but at the end of the day, it is my choice. Of course, as it is anyone elses choice to absorb information in whatever manner they choose to do so. In my small corner, I promote positivity, and the ability to smile as often as possible. I too could choose to stand up and lash out at those who attempt to marginalize me but it has been my personal experience, on my journey, that when I dont add fuel to a fire that it goes out. What has been even more powerful a weapon against the tyranny has been my success and the good life I choose to lead. In my small world, I am of the belief that it is only hate that breeds hate. Every man, women and child; Every culture, community or nation carry their own idiosyncrasies and characteristics. Some of them are blasphemous, some are admirable, some are humorous. Canadians say Eh! and I travel to the States all the time. Every American wants me to say it. then we shake hands and take a picture. It is my choice to accept that people are different and I appreciate that sometimes... others find humor in what makes me unique. I am glad to have put a smile on your face. Now on the subject of the halloween costumes. An East Indian boy came to my house tonight dressed as a cowboy so I asked him how come you wanted to be a cowboy tonight? he told me it was because they were strong and cool. I wonder if anyone has ever thought that little girls wanted to dress up as Pocahontas because she was a beautiful princess. No one gets upset at Snow White. Perspective is the key. We are all entitled to see things how we want to see them. For those of you who choose to stand up for what you believe in, I applaud you. I may not support you, I might not agree but I am proud of you for defending your beliefs. I respectfully ask that I am shown the same type of consideration. As one person found out tonight, I will not allow hate to be bred in my small world.
