Theres a growing pushback in education over the corrosive effect - TopicsExpress

Theres a growing pushback in education over the corrosive effect standardized testing has had on actual learning. But Our Man Mitch wont let something like evidence get in the way of a bad idea once he decides its a good idea. This is a guy who tried to censor the use of a book he disagrees with ideologically. This is man who feels that tuition should be raised at extension campuses (traditionally attended by working students, older students, and students of lower socioeconomic status) to ease the burden on students attending the flagship school in West Lafayette. This is a man who, as governor, appointed the people who would give him his job as university president, while at the same time railing against the nepotism and corruption of politicians in NW Indiana. Its about damn time the faculty decided to stand up to this jag bag using a major university as a comfy place to sit while he assesses the odds of running for national office or grooms himself to be attractive as someones running mate. In the meantime, fundraisers calling from the university, tugging at my heartstrings, asking for money (while my kids are paying tuition) can suck it. At least until they get rid of their patronage hire.
