“There’s no hope…” Ann was moving. Ann had a feral - TopicsExpress

“There’s no hope…” Ann was moving. Ann had a feral cat. Ann had a plan. She went out and bought a trap, and for several days fed her feral girl in a carrier, to get her used to going into confinement to eat. And on trapping day, Blackie went right in! Everything went according to plan – except, Ann was not experienced with this whole process, and didn’t understand just how fast a feral cat really is. So when she and her husband went to transfer Blackie to a dog crate, Blackie bolted. In a panic, Ann began calling all the shelters and rescues she could think of, trying to find someone who could help. Sadly, she was ready to give up after one trapper told her there was no hope, there was nothing that could be done… Fortunately she made one more call, and Kindree of FCSNP called Trish, who called a trapper up north… and today, on what Ann said was the last day she would be allowed to trap, Blackie ran into a drop trap and was caught! 30 minutes start to finish, and Ann will not have to spend her days imagining her cat starving without her. Blackie will have a shed to acclimate in, her bed and familiar smells around her, and most importantly – she will have Ann. While feral cats bond to their territory, they also bond to their people. Moving your ferals with you CAN be done, and can work out well. Blackie won’t let Ann touch her, but boy does she know her voice :) Ann stood there crying when Blackie was trapped, shaking a bit with reaction to the sudden realization that yes, there IS HOPE, yes, there is SUCCESS. What a beautiful feeling, to be the one to give someone that joy :) NOTHING feels as good as that. Wouldn’t you like to have that too? The knowledge that when someone is looking for help, YOU will have the answer? And the answer will not be “there is no hope”. The answer will be “and she lived happily ever after”. Join us. We are anticipating monthly TNR classes in Everett, the schedule is in the works. Email/message us today for more info – because for 30 minutes of your time, you too can be a lifesaver.
