These are the days that make a volunteer sleep very, very well at night. This is Buffy. Life had dealt her family some blows very recenty. Her human mama, a senior, recently fell and shattered her ankle, which has plates and screws now. It will be a long stay in the hospital and rehab. Buffys daddy is seriously ill and in the hospital. Poor little Buffys life turned upside down in one day. Buffy was at PetSmart with us last Saturday, and I happened to notice a lady at the tag engraver with a gorgeous little Shih Tzu boy she had just picked up at the grooming salon. I walked up to her and I told her that little Buffy had just come to us and that she looked just like her boy, but a bit smaller. Buffy and the Shih Tzu boy instantly hit it off. It was uncanny how much alike they looked. The lady explained that she had recently lost her other Shih Tzu and that she hadnt been looking for another dog, as the recent loss was so devastating. HerSshih Tzu had really missed his companion since their loss. We talked for awhile, and then I needed to tend to an adopter. About 15 minutes later, the lady came to me and she had tears in her eyes and she said I want this girl. Tears all around. So many hearts were beginning to heal from just a chance encounter. I have made sure that Buffys prior mamma knew about Buffy and her new family and her new Shih Tzu brother. Love heals us all. Welcome to the rest of your life, Buffy!
