They must avoid adding a tragedy to the scandal - Reporters Without Borders Reporters Without Borders reiterates its call to the Liberian authorities to immediately release FrontPage Africa editor Rodney Sieh, who was rushed to hospital from his prison late in the evening of 27 August after a rapid decline in his physical condition. According to the information obtained by Reporters Without Borders, Sieh is experiencing serious health problems as a result of the hunger strike he began as soon as he was jailed on 21 August for refusing to pay an astronomical damages award. “We urge Sieh to quickly abandon this hunger strike but, at the same time, we think this extreme form of appeal for help should elicit clemency from the authorities. They must avoid adding a tragedy to the scandal of detaining a journalist unjustly. And they must act quickly.”
