They say the cause of injuries in yoga is ego. You want to bend further, push harder and be better. The idea is to be sensitive to your bodys limitations. Some people have natural flexibility, youth and few if any pre-existing medical conditions. I came to yoga after my body had already been through the process of creating and birthing four amazing children and a life of extremes including extremes of happiness, sadness, love & hate. In yoga it is believed that lifes experiences are held in the body at a cellular level. From my experience they are AND a regular practice can release you from ingrained negative thought and behavior patterns. But when it comes to working within my structural limitations I am not so good.
