This afternoon Nicks class had a Thanksgiving potluck with the other special needs classes and invited family members to attend and bring a dish. There were probably 75 people there with all of the students, teachers, paras and guests. The room that we were in got very loud in a short period of time and Nick was showing signs of it becoming too much for him to handle. Before I could react, one of the boys in his class went back to their classroom next door and got Nicks favorite comfort item and stimmy toy, the old reliable therapy putty, and brought it back to him. The boy didnt make eye contact with him nor did Nick acknowledge what the other kid did but I sat there stunned and very warmed by that gesture. That was just so awesome.
