This blog post is a prime example of someone who claims to have read The Hobbit but obviously missed some important details. Its another lame attempt to justify Tauriels inclusion in the film, and its another epic fail. Tauriel is not portraying the Captain of the Guard from the book. Period. That character is also in the movie and is the one who gets drunk with Thranduils butler, Galion. If Mary Sue was the Captain of the Guard, she would have been snoozing alongside Galion while Bilbo freed the dwarves. (And her screen time would have been less than 60 seconds.) Everything the blogger says about Legolas is a load of bollocks because as we all know, he wasnt in TH (book). Tauriels actions have no bearing on the elf/dwarf relationship in Tolkiens LoTR, especially not on Legolas/Thranduils actions or attitudes. Mary Sue is unnecessary, period, as in shes a superfluous character. myrenaissanceblog.wordpress/2013/12/28/my-theory-on-tauriel-kili-and-legolas/
