This evening, I left my house and drove my car from my hometown of Temple over to Belton to attend a band practice of my band. (A productive one actually) In actuality, I do not own the house, I rent it. The car is actually in my wifes (and no, I do not own her either) name and I do not own nor lay claim to the City of Temple. But Hedley Grange is “my” band. It is also Scott Faders band and Matt Chritchfields band and Will Jankes band and Tyler Ralston;s band. If that offends anyone or if anyone thinks that my comments at a local open mike or a recent FaceBook posting indicates that I am laying actual ownership of the band I play ,or that I am trying to take over the band, they are sorely misguided and frankly just being petty. I grew up in East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. I have lived in Southeast and Central Texas for forty one years. My accent and my speech pattern reflects that fact. I attended a “state university”( A rather prestigious one actually) I majored in English. I have over 35 years professional experience in contract negotiations and legal matters . That required a proficiency in the English language and proper, if not exceptional, grammar . If I somehow miss spoke in referencer to my “ownership” of my band then I will “fess up”I certainly meant no harm. I find it insulting and ridiculous that I would even need to address the issue. Such critique is nothing less than..silly and frivolous Whomever wants to make some sort of issue of the matter can bend over and plant their puckered lips on something I do claim that is mine. My Ass.
