This, from the comments on the following story: Many republicans seem to reject the premise that birth control has a legitimate medical use. Frankly the undertone comes off as we refuse to pay for women to be whores; its so demeaning and ignorant. They impose their personal religious beliefs against women by giving more weight to a CORPORATIONS religious liberty (think about that) over a womans substantive due process liberty to make her own health care decisions. They frame contraception as if its some kind of free handout, but that totally misses the point that 1) workers EARN their healthcare by doing their job and 2) access to adequate healthcare is a basic human right and the medical uses for birth control, including preventing unwanted pregnancies, promote the overall public health, welfare, and womens rights. Its a fallacy to single out birth control over some second-hand religious grievance thats none of the managers business in the first place. Employer-provided insurance needs to be comprehensive and adequate, and should include all forms of birth control. Refusal to do so is discrimination, plain and simple. -Brian Bordeaux. huffingtonpost/2014/07/01/birth-control-benefits-hobby-lobby_n_5545178.html
