This has been a great Friday. See the accompanying photo of Marion (our board president), Dalene (our treasurer), Leon (our operations manager), and Cassie (from Grays Harbor Community Foundation) – receiving a grant to help with the upcoming renovation of the food bank. The Grays Harbor Community Foundation came to the aid of the Ocean Shores Food Bank. The Foundation’s generosity will assist the food bank as it changes from being a hybrid distribution model where a large portion of the food being distributed is prepackaged and a smaller portion, chosen by the client. The new distribution model will allow each client to choose the foods they want and need. This will require the demolition of one interior wall (non-load bearing), a bagging table, counters and shelves. New service counters, warehouse shelving, and a registration counter will be erected in the renovated space. We shall also attempt to move from our dependence on plastic bags to the use of reusable bags. The Grays Harbor Community Foundation helps local charities and community not-for-profits fulfill their mission and in turn this create stronger communities with a more caring and committed citizenry.
