This has never happened to me before but it gave me even more faith (as if the reaction to the restaurant wasnt enough) that there are still good people in the world, and especially in College Park! One of my sweet K-Kids members (K-Kids is the elementary school service club of Kiwanis Greater Orlando - Winter Park) came up to me asking about our first meeting of the new school year. When we were done chatting he asked if I was a teacher. I grinned and said, no, Im just the parent coordinator for the service club at our school. And he said, so youre a volunteer? And I said yes.Then suddenly, as if it happened on fast forward, he swiped his credit card through the machine and said, this is on me. Thank you for volunteering for the kids. In my shock I told him he was crazy and tried to push this football-sized linebacker out of the way. Needless to say, he didnt move and I all I could muster up was a lame thank you as I walked away fast before he or anyone else could see the tears strolling down my face. Now Im going to bed thinking about what I can do tomorrow to #payitforward.
