This is a copy of my letter I have emailed to WMDC Planning in support of the five towns park including the tigers new stadium... To Whom it may concern I am writing to express my unequivocal support for Lateral Property Group Planning Application as per above’s reference. It is such an important and exciting scheme, and it is vital that it goes ahead to further develop the five towns economic climate. I live in the five towns area and have been a supporter of Castleford Tigers since I was a young boy. My aim is to try and inspire and support the building of this proposed development. I am writing this letter in my own personal capacity. I strongly believe that this development will not in any way detract from their surroundings, rather they will enhance the area creating jobs, open natural space and retail shopping and provide a state of the art sports development that will further the development of a great rugby league club, community youth sport development, attract revenue, and also provide a venue for this area that can provide outside events like concerts etc. I am happy with the proposed application and its amendments to make this a better place to visit and not have a direct impact on the immediate residents and am sure that this development will have no significant impact in terms of breaching local residents privacy and parking as the application now covers all of this. I have visited lots of sports venues, and always found them to be very inspiring and well controlled on match days through stewarding. The retail and sports proposed development will not in any sense impact on the enjoyment of the area, rather I think it will become a focal point for shopping from visiting tourism both on match days and normal every day shopping , it demonstrates a community coming together and taking change seriously and deciding to act rather than just talk about it. Hundreds of people every year visit places like xscape, jct 32 retail outlet, castleford and pontefract to learn about its liquorice history and to see, in practice, a community responding pro-actively to the challenges of our times. This retail and sports development is a very powerful statement of intent, a symbol of what is possible when a community comes together. I personally am a paying member of Castleford Tigers Rugby league Football Club and I think this development is vital to our communities future and the rugby club. Sometimes I have to travel out of the area to such places like Leeds, York, Hull or Manchester to find the kind of shops that this new development is going to attract thus meaning my money will contribute to our communities economy rather than other areas of the country. In these times, initiatives that bring a financial return to communities are sorely needed. This is an application to celebrate. To celebrate that this community cares enough to have got this project to this stage. To celebrate the fact that it has a community prepared not just to talk about why no-one is doing anything but to put their money where their mouths are. This application is one step closer to becoming a regional showcase of what is possible when a community decides to come together to see the challenges we face as an opportunity to come closer together and to be brilliant. I celebrate the amazing expertise of Lateral Property Group who have pulled together our community with the help of Resolve Public Affairs and putting together a strong case application on their previous merit of developing such venues and making this project work. I hope that the outcome of this application will also be something to celebrate, and I thank you for taking the time to read this.
