This is a really peculiar piece of music.First, it is, at best , obscure. It is from an early Rock stage play: Salvation. Written and scored by a couple of talented, but unappreciated, young men, Peter Link and CC Courtney, opened at the Jan Hus in Manhattan, ran a year, I think, and as far as I know, faded into the rock and theatre backwaters, never to be heard of again. The other significant fact is that the show launched careers: Bette Midler, Barry Bostwick and Joe Morton. I remember, during intermission, one of the actors (I think it was Joe Morton) climbed the scaffolding that the band, a very tight, very efficient combo called Nobody Else, was perched on. He sat down at the B3 and rocked the house. Any way, the music is the point here. Tight harmonies, charming instrumentals (even a take on Urbie Green-like looping and chorusing the brass sections) with great counter melodies and under tones. It is just plain fun.
