This is a video of a "Forced Landing" conducted by a pilot and filmed from the backseat by a passenger. The accident occurred earlier this year, and everyone survived. The cause is (most likely) CARB ICING. There are two things to note here: 1) The aircraft flipped over very quickly landing in a snow-covered field. 2) The video of the cockpit, once the aircraft comes to a stop, shows that the knob next to the throttle- the CARB HEAT- is forward, or OFF. Questions for the membership!!! 1) When were you taught to apply Carb Heat? 2) What does your POH say about using Carb Heat? 3) When Carb Heat is applied for engine roughness, when should you turn it back off? Post your answers as a reply, and let the discussion begin!
