This is for all my Run for God friends. Its easier to post this than message everyone separately. So heres our update I sent to family and close friends about our move. Well my dear Family and friends in The Lord, God has opened the door for us to move back to MI! Not what we expected but His Ways are Higher Than Ours! We felt God leading us for awhile and one of the things we felt was we were here at our apartment complex for our friend DJ and his family. His mom is 26, DJ is 11, two sisters 10 & 5 and 4 year old brother. DJ and his siblings became part of our family. They ate dinner with us, spent the night and went to church with us every Sunday. Every time we would talk about moving we knew we were here for them and we could not leave his family. In Jan DJ told me they were moving. Both Tom and I immediately felt we were released from here. But it was Jan and we knew we had committed to staying through the school year. As we felt God moving we continued to seek Him. So Feb 1st, the day after DJs family moved out we began a 21 Day Daniel Fast. Tom a little cynical, me all in. Praying and fasting and asking God did He really want us to go back to Mi and help with a church plant. I heard nothing! Absolutely nothing. A week later on March 2nd we had a FaceTime call with our friends Mark and Mary in MI, who began the church plant. (They had asked us last summer to join them, just outside Detroit, with the intent to see what we could do also in Detroit.) It was then we told them to pray because on the week before, after the fast Tom was told Best Buy was restructuring and everyone would hear if they had a job or not on March 3rd. March 3rd came and The Lord spoke to me that morning and said, Tom is going to get let go today. Tom on the other hand felt his job was good to go. He came home that night and shared the news that he was let go from his job. 7 people were let go and 3 new jobs were created. At first he was going to apply for a new position and not take the severance, but after prayer we knew this was God saying, Its time to go! So Tom took the severance package (which upset his boss, because he planned to hire him for a new position). He has severance through May 16th. Im done teaching May 21st. Kids are done May 23rd with school and we will move the next weekend. Tom does not have a job yet, but we trust God will provide. So we are selling the majority of our belongings and moving into the building where The Harbor outreach takes place. We will then seek God on where to live near The Harbor or right in Detroit. Which the plan and desire is to have something going on in the city within a year. Below is a link to The Harbor and what is going on and where we will be volunteering. Please keep our family in your prayers as we make this transition. theharborfamily/index2.php#!/HOME And as of today, this is Toms last day of work. He is available to do many odd jobs if youd like to hire him. And being a Best Buy guy he can do almost everything the Geek Squad can do if you need help with that. So Urban Missions here we come.
