This is hard to watch because its so personal but I think its necessary viewing, even just once. Real lives, real hearts broken, real confusion, real injustice, real consequences, real repercussions, real karma, real trauma, real, far reaching, mind-bending, gut wrenchingly painful devastation for real, actual people. (And this is just one case in so many.) Not for the first time, I wonder what it will take for those who choose to join law enforcement agencies to consider the following: they will be making a choice to subliminate their own intelligence and judgement to represent an elite that will train them to use guns to kill other human beings, including youths and children. They will be expected to operate from a position of zero empathy. It goes beyond arrogance to a place of robotic disconnection. Theres a malign (and racist) system at work that trains cops and soldiers to do this - but I also have to question those individuals who voluntarily sign up for bearing arms against their fellow citizens. Not just the USA but the UK too, where we have less guns but an definite history and tendency of racist police and state brutality/deaths in custody/stop and search etc. What if those in the police force just downed tools and walked out? I feel there really needs to be some unified statement of disgust/apology/outrage/solidarity from all those in law enforcement who once may have had ideals about serving and protecting, but now see whats going on and refuse to give tacit support with these types of killings. How can anyone remain silent and unmoved by this?
