This is insightful and should spark a fire under keeping the black dollar within our black communities. I was asked why I chose to buy a house in a neighborhood with a dominate black middle class (85%) and I asked the very same person why not? Would I have been asked that question if the majority of my neighbors had been white? We fail as a people if the majority of us continue to think that white is always right, or in this case the best choice. Regardless of skin color it is time to make decisions for ourselves and what we deemed is helpful for the growth of our own families. So now there are people that say I am wrong for choosing a community that would empower my son to love the skin he is in. I believe it takes a village to raise a child and I think it is important to have my son around people that will know his struggles and support him as well (whether they be White, Black, Asian, or Spanish, etc.). It just so happen the community I chose to raise my child up in mostly look like me. #Lookingatthewomaninthemirror #Ourchildrencomefirst #Wemustloveourselvestoloveothers
