This is my hometown, and the high school I attended K-12! As a child, I knew of this devastating event, but always thought it had happened in another lifetime as it was rarely talked about, etc. The truth is....it happened only 7 years before I was born! My paternal great uncle was the superintendent. He and two of his brothers (one being my grandfather) lost a child in the explosion. My Dad had completed school the year before, but was on campus doing college prep work. My Mother, an 8th grader, was home sick that day. Through the years I have heard many compelling stories. If you are ever in the vicinity...make a point to go by the museum...it is wonderful!
