This is not a promotion for another bike company but I have to tell you what happened to me today at the You Yangs. So I am riding on the uphill section of the fenceline track, to the Junction rocky downhill section to ride Kurrajong. However I decide to ride the road in case someone wants to enjoy the downhill section of Fenceline. Then out of the corner of my eye I see a rider coming up the section that I avoided, no drama, but he is fanging it, his tyres are even making skidding noises like he is out of the saddle going full noise - UPHILL! Then he passes me like he is Fabian Cancellara with the secret motor in his bike ;) ...but wait, thats one big fat huge rear hub on his wheel and that top tube is like a Transformer figurine...hang on its a DH bike too! ...and yes you guessed it - electric. So I hook in behind him on the DH section of Junction Tk, spose he cant go too fast here but on the flats he pulls away and at the bottom where there is a puddle he stops and lets me past. (electricution?) I have to stop and ask him..telling him how much his uphill prowess freaked me out! WOW. So he tells me its an Electric bike, I tell him have a safe and fun day. And so thats my first official sighting of an electric bike in action on the trails! Hey - I still love my Giant pedal powered bike and all the sweat that comes with it!
