This is why Ive decided to write the book: Rape of the Rainbow Nation many years after Alan Patons: Cry - the Beloved Country and now that our beloved Madiba has passed away, and thugs have even infiltrated parliament and prowl our streets, and the Rule of Law mocked. It affects us all - all races, all colors all cultures, from the farms, to the townships and cities everywhere in the land. Our future lies in our own hands. And we should join together to fight the scourge and throw evil out wherever it is to be found. For evil to triumph, only requires that good men and women simply do nothing. Since the Marikana massacre on 16th August 2012 (and no one has yet been brought to book for this horrible injustice) the murder rate in South Africa has risen from 42 to 47 murders a day - seven times higher than the United States of America. The figures for rape and other forms of violence are even higher. We need to start at the top and get rid of incompetent and corrupt politicians in government, and all government departments including the police and justice departments. We must be relentless and raise our standards and not accept second best. The Rainbow Nation was meant to be much more. It has vast potential and not meant to be solely in the hands of privileged Blacks (e.g. Nkandla) or Privileged Whites (e.g. overpaid mining bosses). The Rainbow Nation is for ALL its people and we have to eradicate inequality and poverty by eradicating corruption - which is exalted in the new ZANC. While Jacob Zuma was publicly praising how far South Africa had come under 20 years of ANC rule in a new democracy, a 20-year old man was busy raping a 6-year old toddler in a toilet. This, Mr. Zuma is how far we have come. Hang your head in SHAME.
