This last week has been - interesting. After being smoked out of our apartment we ran to my parents. We had a talk with the Metropolitan Tenants Organization and a long talk with our landlord (whom, we discovered, is an engineer). For the first time in my nearly 30 years of computing I experienced the trauma of spilled water on my new laptop. We both felt like we lost a week of work and have been getting further and further behind. But...we are now home and the heat is working. My computer is working. I got to spend a week with my grandma and my parents. The cats got a week in their vacation home. Throughout it all, despite missing events and deadlines and dealing with the uncertainty of our living arrangements, Ive maintained a positive attitude. Stuff did go wrong, but it could have been much worse. Even then, weve received so much love that we could have weathered that, too. Now Im just hoping that everyone I work with will be a little patient as I get back into the groove!
