This morning Year 6 pupils from Hamsey Green Junior School carried out Speedwatch with local officer in Tithepit Shaw Lane, where the speed limit is 30mph.. In the 3 hours that they were there 39 cars were stopped for speeding, the top recorded speed was 45mph. Instead of issuing fines the speeding drivers were invited to discuss with the children why they were speeding near their school and answer a questionnaire from the children . The only exception was a driver doing nearly 50mph at the location they did not speak to the children but just to the officers who did issue a ticket in this case. Brilliant way to educate drivers and the children don’t you think?
