This morning on the way to school Lucy and I listened to an NPR - TopicsExpress

This morning on the way to school Lucy and I listened to an NPR story about the Mayor of Toronto smoking crack. I told her that I was interested in Lisas comment yesterday - why is it news? Literally, I was thinking about it in the middle of the night and this is my answer: When you purchase crack or any other illegal substance, you are participating in, at the first and most essential level, an illegal, immoral, violent and corrupt enterprise. Of course, we all know about poor people and unfortunate people who become addicted and become victims of the drug trade. People who have no opportunities, no options, etc. These people need our help and our prayers. They are VICTIMS of this illegal, immoral enterprise. It is INCONCEIVABLE that people elected to serve and protect the populace participate in the drug enterprise at any level. It is inconceivable that they do not understand that there are no victimless crimes. It is offensive that they would suggest otherwise and act in a cavalier manner. Public officials breaking laws is a serious, serious problem. Not to mention the fact that if the mayor is a crackhead, what is really getting accomplished?
