This morning while out exploring and geocaching, I had something of an Epiphany. I was stumbling through the wilderness up on Afton Mountain on a one man expedition to find the Claudius Crozet Blue Ridge Tunnel. First ... I became list in the wilderness as I became separated from the trail (in true Red Shirt fashion). And as I was alone out there, I thought to myself ... This is when I really wish I had other adventurous Trekkie spirits out here with me. ... A full away team with everything that goes with it, exploring the wilderness to find a place wed never been to before. I also thought it would make it less likely that should something happen to me, that Id survive ... but that goes to the skills we would learn as Starfleet officers in Fleet 31. Now ... Im not talking cos-play on this one or rp or anything like that, but like-minded people with both a love of trek and a love of adventure in common ... wanting to explore and discover real places that we likely would not otherwise seek out and find. Point is ... I FOUND what I was looking for. I found the tunnel basically because I used what I knew to get me in a direction of a fixed point I knew to be in a certain direction and happened to come out right at the tunnel itself ... blind Red Shirt luck. And oh how I wish I had others to share it with as basically ... Im tired of being out there alone and want to trade in that one man scout ship for a small explorer / scout ship crewed by a great crew ... people whom I could call friends .... family. Who wants to share in the adventure?
