This one from Director Mundita Lim of Protected Areas and Wildlife Bureau on Protected Area Superintendents. "In fairness to PAWB, we have been exhausting our efforts in institutionalizing and professionalizing this position. You should know, because you have been working with us. The advocacy has been a challenge within the Bureaucracy in the past years, and this year it seems we have broken some grounds. For 2014, we again proposed for PASu positions in the DBM, though these positions were not approved, one Supervising Ecosystem Management Specialist has been approved for each PENRO to be designated as PASu for priority PAs in the province. 12 Protected Area Operations Superintendents will be created for each of the legislated protected areas. We are working very hard to negotiate this, and ensure that these initially favorable actions by the DBM will not be shot down along the way (again). We, of all agencies in the government, truly, want this to happen. The pressure should not be placed on us alone. You know, even though the road seems to have been rough and long for the National PA system since you and Felix (Mirasol of Mt Kitanglad) started, we have won a few battles along the way, and I hope this PASu positions finally will be one of those battles. But we shall not let our guards down until we actually see the positions listed in the Plantilla of the DENR. And as we man the frontline, we need YOU, our Friends, to watch and guard the other entry points."
