This picture reminded me of a time at Ft Wainwright in Fairbanks Alaska. Several of us were assigned guard duty at the post ammo dump. It was dark (which it is most if not all the time during the winter), and cold. My partner and I hopped into the jeep (yes we had jeeps back in the old days), and started cruising around the dump. They are big places generally since the bunkers holding the ammo, shells, etc. are spaced apart in case there is an explosion or something. Anyway we we were doing our patrol when our jeep just stalled, and would not start. So we chilled looking at the beautiful sky, when we were treated to an amazing display of the Aurora Borealis. Ill never forget the dancing of the lights, it was the greatest display I ever saw. Then there was a circle that resembled a coiled snake. You could hear it hissing when all of a sudden it sprung out like a snake going after its prey. After that it just disappeared. My partner and I just sat there for a few minutes in awe of what we had just seen. Happy that we had been able to witness such an amazing event. After it was over, the jeep started right up, and we finished our rounds.
