This post from a great friend of mine (Ellen Nelson) attending a conference for Voice of the Martyrs: "Today I attended an event where I heard people from around the world share their stories of kidnapping, torture, imprisonment and threat of death because they are Christian and live in countries where that is illegal. I met a woman from China who was violently taken from her home in the middle of the night, tortured, and imprisoned for 6 years for attending a church and being the editor of its newsletter. All of the speakers stressed how much they are helped by our prayers. If you are able to freely attend a place of worship this weekend, say an extra ‘thanks’ for that freedom, and remember our brothers and sisters around the world who are meeting in secret. Sing out for those congregations who can only mouth the words for fear of being heard and arrested.
