This post is more for those who are interested in the medical side of things. We went to Troys GP yesterday and had a long discussion with him and expressed our desire for Troy to be well protected against potential infection especially in the six month period post HSCT treatment where he is most susceptible. He took it all on board and ultimately after some consideration prescribed Troy with scripts for : Valaciclovir 1 tablet daily (antiviral) and, Bactrim 1 tab Mon, Tue, Wed He will continue to have regular follow up blood tests to check his immune system is responding well. We are very happy with this as the last thing we want is for him to end up in the intensive care unit due to what would otherwise have been a mild cold or infection. Today we visited Troys Neurologist who ultimately is very happy with how he is going and is going to write a letter to support Troys commencement of a restorative rehabilitation program with an exercise physiologist and trainer in the new year. Troy is most passionate about rebuilding his strength and ability to walk at the moment though he knows it will take time, patience and determination. (We want to once again express our appreciation to everyone who has supported us along this journey, medically, financially, emotionally, the media, our local businesses, family, friends and the broader community and the online MS and HSCT community. We have been so blessed by your support and we would not be where we are today and with the hope that we have, without you all.)
