This tells us that its very hard for people to kill time with just their own thoughts and that it may be a normal human function to avoid doing nothing and to instead entertain ourselves with action, says Wilson. An intriguing study and I feel may well offer insight into the issue; its not so much a normal human function to avoid doing nothing but more so reflective of the lack of understanding,. education and practise as to how to process the flow of thoughts. Taking time out to enter deep thought, reflect and process our experiences I would suggest is an imperative practise we must undertake; this teaches us mindfulness; It would be fair to say its a lack of mindfulness and taking the time to seriously consider thoughts, actions and events which give rise to many of the major issues we face in our society today. I find it of most intrigue but of little surprise that those participating in this study choose to give themselves stimulation by electric shock. I would suggest this is a somewhat, distorted conscious action of a subconscious instruction to enter a state of meditation in order to synchronise the flow of thoughts whilst in a state of stillness. If we enter stillness and enter the practise of meditation; even more so when supported with brainwave entrainment audio; our body/mind receives the stimulation of electromagnetic energy throughout the entire body - recent studies showing brain scans following meditation demonstrate this. It would seem that the subconscious was sending an instruction for this stimuli however; as the participants were not consciously aware of the detailed knowledge/science regarding meditation practise; they simply consciously sought an artificial stimuli of similar nature; the only option in which they were presented and indeed; had knowledge of ; Magnetic Reconnection is the key 0/\0 newscientist/article/dn25849-idle-minds-succumb-to-temptation-of-electric-shocks.html?utm_source=NSNS&utm_medium=SOC&utm_campaign=facebookgoogletwitter&cmpid=SOC%7CNSNS%7C2012-GLOBAL-facebookgoogletwitter#.U7folvldWSo
