This was beautiful. Road-worn dude, nails black as tar and a guitar too ratty to really sing when he played it. People were looking down at him, not up to him. I asked his permission to play on his block and he said yes. I plugged in my travel electric and handed it to him. He played like a Gypsy King. It was incredible. People walked by and smiled at him and yelled bravo. He kept pushing me to jam along with him but really I just wanted to hear him do his thang. Ive slept on beaches and benches and in hostels on this trip, and havent felt so rich and fortunate and alive in as long as I can remember. And all this as bombs are dropping, mirrored badges shimmer as bullets cut through unarmed bodies and Scots debate their fate. Cheers to being alive as long as it lasts, in this world or the next.
