This was my first horse. Well my REAL first horse was a CRAZY - TopicsExpress

This was my first horse. Well my REAL first horse was a CRAZY QUARTER HORSE that would go from mr. ed to jaws in the blink of an eye and is the cause of some of my family members fear of horses. But this is the guy I call my first horse, he taught me much of what I know today and is the reason I am so partial the Arabian breed. He would do any discipline I pointed him at and always gave me 110%. The jumping picture was my first lesson ever on him doing jumping, no problem. The other picture is 4h horse fair. He came to me afraid and flighty, deemed unridable and untrainable. I refused to give up; two years of ground work and lessons on my part got us to this point. I always said one day I would ride him down the road to the neighbor horse trainer that always said he was untrustworthy and worthless and prove her wrong. I did. When he was 18 he went on to teach other children the ropes, I still get updates on him. He blew them away with the way he babysat all the kids and literally opened his mouth for the bit with zero effort on their part. I take pride in the fact that he went from a head shy, scared, abused little gelding to a confident, quiet, babysitter. The real credit however goes to him, I believe he is the kind of horse that the Arabian was bred to be. He is the reason I get excited when someone brings me a no-good arabian to train. I know he wasnt an exception to the breed; I have worked with many Arabians and with few exceptions they all show his qualities. I know you all dont need to hear me preach; but for what its worth thats my two cents =]
