This was my response to someone newly diagnosed with MS when they asked what to do when friends and family would go on about someone else they kw with MS and they are doing great... they have no idea what they are really talking about... when someone says that to you...get OVERLY excited and ask questions like.. what DMD are they taking? Where are there lesions located? Do you know what type of MS they were Dx with? Usually... they are stumped and I usuall. say... so you DONT really know how they are, do you? Every person with MS has different symptoms because of the LOCATION of their lesions... I also compare their comparison of MS to comparing women with breast cancer. I know 5 women with breast cancer... one woman lost a breast and then ultimately her life.... another woman lost a breast... and then a few years later.. her other breast... she celebrated 5 years cancer free... she died just 3 years after that.... I know a third woman that has lost both breasts and continues her fight...it has been years... a fourth woman lost part of a breast... is celebrating 3 years cancer free... what do I tell that 5th woman about what I know about breast cancer??? I say NOTHING... I STFU and LISTEN to her... she doesnt want my advice..she wants my ear, my shoulder to cry on, my arms to hug her...She is not any one of those other women and her story will be as individual as she is... as my MS is NOT like your friends.
