This week Im geeking out over Plastc , a new piece of payment tech I became aware of thanks to Foster.lys Adam Zuckerman. At first glance Plastc (@PlastcInc) might just look like another COIN wannabe - so take a second look. While Coin may have been the first to the plate with the concept of digital card as digital card library, it was missing a few essential things - EMV chip security, for starters. Plastc seems to have nailed not only the obvious security requirements we knew Coin was lacking, but also adds a heaping handful of other functionality I didnt even realize Coin was missing. Plastc syncs with your phone using Bluetooth. It lets you swipe between 20 cards or barcodes using an E-ink touchscreen, and offers NFC (like the iPhone 6) for contactless transactions, an EMV chip for the latest card readers, and RFID so you can replace your office building’s ID card. Even if you don’t know all the acronyms by heart, Plastc already sounds impressive. But there’s more. Will I pay $155 to reclaim my wallet from the never-ending sea of plastic. You betcha.
