This weekend has been a big one , each year, what is known as The Kokoda challenge is held, a 95 km treck though the Gold coast Hinterland. Its not a competition as such, more of endurance Run / walk. It is about team work, working with one another, mate ship ,courage, endurance and sacrifice. entrants were made up of 2 groups, those doing 45 km and those going the full 95 km. I worked on a support team , which meant traveling to each check point and supplying food and drink during the walk. Unfortunately by the 3/4 stage, 2 of our team had to pull out, now these guys are super fit, but by end the course had taken its toll on quite a few people. They have had to walk valleys, climb mountains then down again, walk through the night with head lamps, and not fall of into the darkend bush.... by the end of it all, every one of these people are heros, courages, people, I salute them as I salute the solders that fort the battles at Kokoda in New Guinea during WW 2.... ( lest We Forget ) now I might get some sleep.....
