This weeks featured team is a bulky offense Ubers team built by Aenonar and Hack that highlights yesterdays Pokémon of the Week, Mewtwo. The team showcases the absurd wall-breaking potential of Mega Mewtwo-Y and the cohesiveness of all Pokémon used on the team. The team starts with the star — Mewtwo. After Mega Evolution, it hits an unheard of 194 Special Attack and a ridiculous 140 Speed. The EV spread is optimized to outpace max Speed Arceus prior to Mega Evolution and max Speed normal Mewtwo afterward. It also outpaces neutral-natured, max Speed Deoxys-Attack after Mega Evolution. Landorus-Therian comes next, providing necessary U-turn support that enables Mewtwo to come in safely and Stealth Rock support. Its spectacular Ground/Flying typing gives it Electric and Ground immunities, allowing it to take the Thunders that SpD Kyogre cant. Landorus-Therians EV spread is optimized to survive a +3 Arceus Extreme Speed at full health. +3 252+ Atk Silk Scarf Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 208 HP / 252+ Def Landorus-T: 313-370 (84.3 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO The next addition to the team is Klefki, providing residual damage through Spikes, checking Xerneas with priority Thunder Wave, and, notably, using Heal Block, which enables it to put in some work against Calm Mind Arceus, Blissey, Chansey, and, particularly, Gothitelle. It also acts as a solid check to Yveltal, a major threat to Mewtwo. Its fantastic typing allows it to switch in to a variety of moves, particularly those that are Psychic-, Dark-, Flying-, and Dragon typed. Because the team thus far struggles against Calm Mind Arceus, SpD Kyogre is added, to help check Xerneas, provide phazing support (which is highly desirable on a team that stacks hazards), and also act as a check to opposing Kyogre, Palkia, and Arceus-Water. The fifth slot on the team was originally filled by Giratina-O, but due to Giratina-Os redundancy with Landorus-Therian, it was removed and replaced with Zekrom. Zekrom can handle a +2 Extreme Speed from Arceus at full health and provides Volt Switch support for the team, mixed damage in Draco Meteor, and the ability to revenge kill, which is valued on such an offensive team. The last member of the team is the Almighty himself, Arceus, in his Ghost forme. Arceus-Ghost acts as a check to opposing EKiller Arceus, Mewtwo-Mega-X, and Kangaskhan. Focus Blast helps with this teams Ferrothorn issue. With Will-O-Wisp, it acts as a great check to many physical sweepers in the tier, and its great defensive typing only aids the team that much more. A massive part of this team is synergy. The team utilizes many commonly seen cores such as Landorus-Therian / Klefki and VoltTurn / SpD Kyogre / Landorus-Therian / Dragon-type. Landorus-Therian and Klefki provide Ground and Fairy typing, allowing them to adequately check Zekrom. They also provide Stealth Rock and Spikes, giving the team massive residual damage support. Landorus-Therian and Zekrom constitute a Volturn core (Volt Switch + U-turn), allowing their fellow team members, especially Mewtwo, numerous opportunities to come in safely. SpD Kyogre is a shaky check to opposing Kyogre, but when paired with two other members of the team that take reduced damage from Thunder and can outspeed Specs Kyogre, the team becomes capable of handling all Kyogre sets. The name of the game for this team is to get up hazards, force switches and/or phaze, and give Mewtwo and Zekrom as many opportunities as possible to weaken opposing Pokémon and/or break walls for the team. It has a solid defensive core to fall back on, but make no mistake, you want to maintain momentum and offensive pressure. The biggest threats to this team are: - Calm Mind Arceus-Electric/Ghost: You can run Toxic on Zekrom to help deal with them a bit better, but at the end of the daythey still present relevant threats to this team. - Ferrothorn: This giant prick(ly) monster with SpD investment walls this team to an absurd extent, only being beaten by Arceus-Ghost and Mewtwo. Because Klefki is running Heal Block, you can get away with Spikes-stacking to limit Ferrothorns ability to switch in. - Swords Dance Arceus-Ground: The only chance this team has at beating SD Arceus-Ground is with A) enough prior damage so that Mega Mewtwo-Y can pick it off with Ice Beam or B) winning a Speed tie and Will-O-Wisping it with Arceus-Ghost. Massive shout-outs to Melee Mewtwo and Edgar for their assistance in editing the team in its final stages. A pastebin of the team can be found below. Enjoy! pastebin/z0cmNkf5
