This weeks news Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas, Toys in every store.... ....but were still not finished - not quite done with 2014! There is still the little matter of the last AIL game of the year, the annual Cabin Fever Tag Tournament and no doubt a festive tipple or two. Lets start with the news from the last week, before looking ahead to the final few bits of fun for 14. Results from Last Week...... We had just the two games last weekend, with the 2nds and 5ths flying the flag as most leagues started to shut down ahead of Christmas. The 2nds faced Lansdowne in the Senior Seconds League Cup Final, and following their stunning win over Marys the week before, they were full of confidence. Their remarkable upturn in fortunes continued, as they expertly dispatched Lansdowne, eventually running out 33-23 victors. This is an incredible achievement, as Lansdowne are currently top of Metro Division 1. Well done lads! The 5ths had another impressive win, keeping pace in Division 10 with league leaders NUIM Barnhall with a hard fought 16-12 win over Seapoint. Never easy opponents, Seapoint battled hard, but eventually our tactical nous and defensive strength saw us home. Fixtures this Week......... There is only one game this week, but its a big one, with the 1st XV looking to round off an astonishing year with victory over UCD. The students travel to Lakelands this Saturday knowing they face a team still smarting from defeat to Ballynahinch, but will be confident nonetheless, after a couple of good results recently. A good draw against Cork Con was followed by an impressive win against St Marys, and they will be looking to do the double over D6W sides. They wont have it easy though, as we have a few bodies returning from injury, and ready to lay it on the line and come out of the Christmas games still on top of Division 1A. Kick off in Lakelands is an earlier than normal 2pm, so make sure to get down early and cheer the lads on! Our 1st XV received further deserved acclaim last week, as the Tallaght Echo named them as their Team of 2014, with James Blaney as Coach of the Year in their annual sports awards. Well done lads - richly deserved! Cabin Fever Tag..... The Annual Cabin Fever Tag is back, for families, friends, brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, grannies, grandads - everybody!
